The PLEIN AIR PAINTERS OF DUBUQUE will be in Bellevue on Thursday, July 28th. There will be five artists painting in the downtown area from 3:00 to 7:00 P.M. Experience our beautiful scenery through these artists eyes as they paint plein air.
Bellevue City Administrator Abbey Skrivseth came up with a fun way to promote Bellevue Heritage Days in 2022. Bellevue Arts Council and retired art teacher, Dave Eischeid, drew the design of Uncle Sam, Bellevue Lumber donated the materials, Mike Marshall and the Bellevue High School shop class made the cut-out, and finally, Bellevue High School art student Brook Kurt painted it. The new Heritage Days prop will be located at Cole Park on July 3, and plans are for it to return every year.
The annual Summer Art Exhibition will be held on June 17th from 5:30 to 8 p.m with reception., and June 18th from 2 - 6 p.m., at the Great River Gallery, 309 South Riverview. To celebrate National Poetry Month, the Bellevue Arts Council is inviting local writers and artists to participate in, or simply attend, the Poetry and More event Thursday, April 28th, at 6:30 p.m. This event will be held at the Great River Gallery at Water Street Landing, 309 South Riverview. Attendees who wish to participate should bring a notebook, pencil, a guitar if you are so inclined, an original work or work by a favorite author you wish to share, or just come to listen to the talent those participating want to share with the community. Mike Doland and Dave Eischeid are coming together to host a two-man art show. The show was Friday, May 6, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, May 7, from 2 to 6 p.m., at the Great River Gallery, 309 South Riverview in Bellevue, Iowa.
Doland is an artist in painting as well as in his ability to create original jewelry. Mike taught art in Maquoketa, Dubuque, and Bellevue schools before opening his jewelry stores. Eischeid taught art in the Bellevue Community Schools for 33 years, along with being a professional photographer for over 20 years. They taught together for six years in Bellevue, both are now in retirement and have collaborated their art pieces to host their first ever two- man show . The art pieces range from color studies of diamonds to visual feelings of the environment and travel experiences.
Curt and Lucy Zeimet did a wonderful job with their theatrical story-telling presentation, "Love Letters," a lifelong story of ups and downs between two very different people told to each other through "love letters." Free admission and sponsored by the Bellevue Arts Council, this is our first of many varied and meaningful events for our members and the community this year.
